We had a Penguin Low Profile 13.5K BTU installed in the bedroom of our 5th wheel as a second unit. My biggest complaint about the unit is that I cannot get the
fan to run continuously despite the owner's manual telling me that the unit will do so. The fan setting is supposed to run continuously on two settings (low and high), but it seems to run according to the thermostat anyway. When set to the low cool setting, the fan is supposed to run
continuously. The owner's manual said that many customers select this setting to provide background noise while sleeping. I found this trait particularly desirable...too
bad it didn't work as advertised. And, it sounds like a hovercraft landing (we wanted to run the fan continuously
during the night, but as it turns on and shuts off, it will definitely wake up the average sleeper). It will cool well and the thermostat works to some degree (it's hit or miss what you'll get based on what you selected). I would not recommend this particular unit unless you absolutely have to have a low-profile air conditioner.
We just had a second Dometic air conditioner installed in our 34 foot 5th wheel. For the
price, it was a great deal. It runs very quiet and actually works better then the main one
installed when the 5th wheel was built. I would highly recommend this unit!
