How Anti-Sway Bars Work
Shock absorbers control up-and-down movement but won’t control side-to-side movement. Adding an aftermarket anti-sway bar to your suspension system will have the same effect on sway as a good set of shocks will have on up-and-down motion. Anti-sway bars link the suspension and the frame, using the weight of the axle as a brace against the chassis to distribute weight more evenly. Pressure against one side of the coach from wind, passing trucks or weight shift is countered by the bar.
