First trip with Aero Shield installed was 2200 miles, Nv to Washington state, round trip. Millege was about 10% better then last time I made the same trip. Towing 28', 9K lb fifth wheel, Forest River Flagstaff with 2011 F 150 EcoBoost 3.5L. Overall 9.8 MPG at 65-70 mph. Mfg, needs to include info on placement of deflector (distance from trailer) for optimum performance. results

Product shipped quickly and arrived in good condition. It was easy to attached the straps to the unit. When I was Installing it on my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500, one of the tie down straps broke. There is a buckle that you thread the strap through and the strap was fed through one side of the buckle and then sewn to the other side of the strap to keep the buckle attached. The point where it was sewn together is what broke. Customer service responded right away and promptly told me I could go on their website and order a new strap for $4 plus shipping. WHAT???? The product was brand new out of the box. I called them and spent a few minutes and they sent me a strap at no charge. The wind deflector worked great. I averaged 2 to 3 MPG fuel savings when towing my bumper pull travel trailer.

I was looking for more performance towing, the flat frontal area on my 31 foot trailer is like a big hand trying to hold my Rig back in a head wind. I was hoping by increasing the air flow above my trailer instead of it slamming the frontal area performance would be increased. This was true, but not to the degree I had hoped, it does help in a head wind, and it helps decrease trailer drag, the faster you go the more it helps, 65mph there is a noticeable difference. It also help trailer stability and keeps a lot of bugs off the front of the trailer. It would appear I got a couple of miles per gallon increase on my application. the mounting strap installation was a total Joke in my opinion. I custom mounted it to the Luggage rack of my Excursion as far rearward as possible. The unit looks so flimsy it would fly apart in the wind, but it stayed together. My first trip with is was over the mountains and a lot of steep hills, Mt Hood, Warm Springs hills and Central Oregon, the trip To Winchester on the Freeway will be a better test as 65 to 70 mph cruising will tell me a lot more regarding mileage changes and drag at speed. If your trailer has a big flat frontal area like mine and you can mount it toward the rear your tow Rig, it does help reduce, the power and mileage robbing drag of the wind. It does create a strong updraft behind the tow Rig, so tie down your Propane tank cover and anything else that will be affected by a strong upward airflow on the front of your trailer of fifth wheel.
