Water Softener

Not totally sold on it yet, thus 4 stars instead of 5. One step in the directions for re- charging cannot be followed. Directions say to open the drain valve and drain a few cups of water in order to make room for new salt. Opening the drain valve will not do it; only a small amount of water drains. In order to make enough room for new salt, one has to open the fill port and then tip the unit over to let a substantial amount of water drain out the fill port in order to have enough room to add the new salt. Not yet sure if this method will maintain integrity of the ion base over the long haul. Jury is still out, but manufacturer needs to address this.

A MUST HAVE FOR Hard Water

February 20, 2013
Just installed this on our 5th wheel, live in St. George, Ut. who tests as having the worst hard water and after a simple installation we now test on the best on the test strip. My only complaint is that the directions are not complete in telling you what and how much salt you put in it which I plan on researching. Don't let this stop you from buying it. It is going to be a life saver on our appliances and water stuff. We did install an inexpensive pre-filter on the hose before the water goes into the softener which cost us about $25.00. Just to catch the big stuff before it goes into the softener and then into the coach and through our inline filter under our kitchen sink.

This is the best thing I have bought for my camper. No more cleaning the shower every couple days because of the rust on the walls. I have had it for a month and can't believe how great they work. The first time I showered and washed my hair you could feel the difference. I have told everyone I know to get one. It is the best investment you can make!!!

Love Our Flow-Pur

We love our FLow-Pur Water Softener. Our campground water smells and tastes so much better. We use less soap in all cases. The only problem we encountered was, the top fill port piece was cracked when we got it. I immediately called Camp World, gave them the part number and they said they would send the replacement piece. Unfortunately, whomever I talked to did not follow through with getting the replacement part ordered. So, I had to call again and this time they did get us the new part. Money well spent for sure.

Works great!

Works as advertised. Had no problem with set-up or the initial re-charge. Be carefule with plastic fittings, it is easy to cross-thread when attaching hoses. Brass fittings would be better. I could/should have gotten a size larger (more capacity), the hard water at my current location means a re-charge once every three to four weeks. Does make a difference in the shower and washing dishes!!

This is a must have if you go camping off the colorado river where the water test out @ over 75. You will need to regenerate about every week but @ $.74 (cents) its well worth it.

And Now the Water's Soft.....

Since we have a water softener for the house, the water in the RV was obviously different: it didn't have that slick feel of soft water nor did it encourage soaps to bubble up. Sure enough, the test kit that came with this item showed substantial differences in softness (calcium ppm). When I preflushed this softener and bolted it into the RV water supply, the water was immediately and unmistakably softer. This was confirmed by the test kit.. Suds galore and slickness followed. I think it should be made clearer how many potable hose adaptors are required to connect the softener into the supply. I had to order an additional 6 foot section after the softener arrived to get enough female hose ends to make the connections. Also, the connections required to regenerate and backflush the softener is left up to the user to figure out. The high salt content and the regeneration outflow needs to be made explicit as well as the amount of water used. Here, in Southern California, we try to conserve water and take care with our sewage. I worry that the salty water might be dumped into an ecologically sensitive place when camping if regeneration were performed. Note that the water softener gets heavy when it is filled with water in use. All that said, now the RV water is soft!

I have had the softener for a little over a month now. We (my wife and myself no kids just the dogs) have a Park model trailer in a seasonal resort and we spend 3 or 4 nights a week at it. The water tests out a over 25 grains of hardness it is good water but is very hard. I hooked it up the last week of June and I recharged it for the first time the last week of July.and it was still testing as soft but I wanted to see what it was like to recharge, it is very easy to do using 2 lbs of table salt. We love having soft water and wish we would bought it earlier, this unit woud have fit very well in the side compartment of our Class A motorhome. I would recommend it to anyone.

I recently purchased this for my father's camper. He has used it every weekend for the last 5 weeks or so. He told me he is very happy with it! No problems at all, and uses regular table salt - around 2 lbs.
