Bought these from Camping World on a Thursday and received it on the following Monday. Installed 3 of them in about 2.5 hours. The hardest part was finding the exact screw to remove. Had to cut off the existing caulk to find the screw, squirt some dicor in the hole,
more dicor to replace the caulk I had to remove to find the screw, place the bracket in place,
put the new screw in, dicor over the bracket and the screw head, put the vent cover on
each bracket and secured with the clip. These don't block all the light out and I didn't want
them to. In the bedroom and den, I will put a vent pillow in the vent when I need to block out
the light. I chose the smoke color because the black covers would not match the exterior
colors of my camper. The first trip out, had a heavy thunderstorm come through. With the
vent lid completely open, I won't say that it kept it bone dry but the wind was blowing. I
wouldn't worry if I left the vent open and a rain came up while I was away. Overall. I believe I
improved the value and functionality of my trailer.
Had cover installed and was told that cover was REALLY EASY to install and FIT almost perfect. Vent still hits top barley. Will save Vent top from discoloring--WIFE LOVE'S IT!
This is a product I didnt know I needed until a friend pulled up in his airstream with recently installed vent covers. First, super easy installation. Secondly, it allows one to leave vents open whenever you want even while driving. The additional air flow is great. I highly
recommend it as an inexpensive upgrade for all rigs.
The cover itself is well built, but the instructions don't inform you that in order to get to the 2nd from the front
and 2nd from the back screws to install the brackets, all the original sealant has to be removed, and if you have a
newer MH like I have, (2011 WinneBago) once you take the time to remove all the factory sealant , (1 1/2 hours) you
find that you have no screws at all, as the newer Fantastic Fans are clamp style no screws thru roof. I determined
that for me, to raise the lid about 3/4 way, set the cover as far towards the rear of MH as possible, thus placing the
back brackets (front of MH) as far back as possible on side walls and the front brackets all the way forward on the
front edge (toward back of MH) drilling a 5/32 hole thru roof for each bracket and secure with supplied #10 screws,
covered over everything with DAP Dynaflex 230 and at the end
of the day, I was glad I went through all the unexpected trouble. Looks and works Great.
I have a automatic Fantastic Fan vent and I want to put a cover over it. Is this unit tall enough to allow the vent cover to open fully? Mine measures about 11-12 inch when full open.
