We bought this grill because it has a griddle built into the lid. I thought it would save us space as we wouldn't need a separate griddle. The lid is not hinged so to access whatever you are grilling you have to remove the entire lid, including the non-attached HOT griddle, using both hands and place the HOT lid on top of something that you hope will not melt while you turn your food. The grill part itself works fine and assembly was not that difficult. I can't say how the griddle works as so far the only thing I have cooked on it are my fingers. A grill with a griddle is a great idea but this grill certainly needs much more engineering to be user friendly. If I had paid less I would have thrown this in the trash by now, but as it is I feel like I must continue to hate this grill with every cookout to at least get my money's worth.
