The FanTastic Ceiling Fan Vent with built-in thermostat is the perfect solution to removing stale, stuffy air from your RV while it draws in fresh, clean air in just seconds! This versatile three-speed, reversible 12-volt fan fits standard 14" x 14" openings and uses 3 amps on high.
As has been expressed by others, the hardest part is removing the old fan, and cleaning up the area prior to installation. The pro...vided instructions were clear and understandable, the product well made.
As another reviewer, I also had to add wiring for the fan, as the previous vent was not powered, but this was only a minor inconvenience. I have not had any leaks, even after several driving
storms with high winds and torrential downpours, so I am confident
that this product seals well. The fan works extremely well, is quiet, and moves a significant amount of air. Appearance is good, and the fit and finish of the parts appears to be of high quality.
If I were to complain about the unit at all, it would be that the cover does not close smoothly (though it opens smoothly and quietly) but
bounces and makes a disconcerting sound when being closed. This ONLY occurs during the act of closing though, and when closed, or opened it does not rattle or make noises. Overall, a 9.7 on a scale of 10. I would gladly buy this product again.
I purchased this fan and partially installed it, only to find that it did not work. I contacted Camping World, returned the fan, a...nd they sent a replacement right away. I love the fan. This is the second one that I've installed in different motorhomes and they both did exactly what they were supposed to do...they're quiet, they turn on and off according to the temperature inside the coach, and they're good looking.
We just installed this on our RoadTrek Class "B". It went on easily and made a difference inside our unit immediately. I...nstallation took about two hours. However, within a few minutes of operation we wondered how we ever lived without it. It replaces the air in our small unit very quickly and provides for a nice flow of fresh air. We generally have a problem with the stove heating up the unit quickly, but a quick experiment showed that this vent kept the ambient temperature in the unit from rising with both stove buners on. A must have!!
Purchased two of these fan's for my older camper when I Boondock camp. These fan's really move alot of air, but if you use a Maxx...Air fan vent cover, ensure you use the high flow covers. I lost half of the air flow capacity with the standard vent cover. Couldn't imagine having to camp without these fan's to move the air, especially when it rains. I set it up with one fan blowing out and one sucking in.....clears the air in the camper in
minutes! Love them.
The Fantastic Fan did a great job for our popup camper. It kept a constant air flow for both the day and night time and made thin...gs quite comfortable. Easy to install and the unit makes for a nice neat job when finished.
Actually, my motorhome came with the fans that DON'T have thermostats. For the main fan, I cannibalized a wall-type residential th...ermostat and mounted it on the inner wall of the fan. Not for the faint of heart, but I must tell you that having a thermostat is the ONLY way to go. I can leave the rig and not worry about pets getting baked. When it gets too hot the fan kicks in, but will turn off when termperatures come back down, without things getting too cold. If you need to replace your fan and find yourselves in climates that go from hot to cold each day, spend a few more bucks and quit worrying.
My only gripe with these fans (with or without thermostat) is that the lowest speed is still pretty high. Effective, yes, but more than is required for a lot of situations.
This is the fith one I have purchased because of trading in the
trailers they were in. I have two in my newest trailer and move a...ir
around in the trailer with such volume that I don't use the air conditioner nearly as often as I used to, even in the hot weather.
This fan is exactly what I needed. Instead, I bought the SHURflo Platinum model, remote controlled fan (CW had it on sale). That'...s a nice fan, but I was not happy with the confusing thermostat operation. The final result? I removed the SHURflo fan (carefully) and installed the Fan-Tastic Ceiling Fan and a Maxx-Air model 800 cover. Now I can use it anytime in any weather. It's quiet and powerful. I also learned that I don't need two of them like I was planning. I put it in the bedroom, open a window in the kitchen and the whole trailer now has air flowing through it.
We had a single speed Fantastic Fan come with our 5er in the
Bedroom. Cools very well by pulling in air from the outside when
there is little breeze. It is like a whole house fan.
We added this thermostat model to our Livingroom/Kitchen. The only
kitchen motorized vent that came with the 5er runs with the
microwave on AC. We dry camp in many of the areas we go. Since
this model is 12 volt, cooking odors go out the vent.
It is also reversable so you can set one fan to pull in and the second
one to push out. You can close your windows and use the vents only,
if there are fumes or odors from the camper next door.
Very happy with them. Helps the 5er stay cool longer so the AC
doesn't have to run nearly as much in the afternoon.
We bought 2 powered fan vents one was another cheaper brand . We wish both were fantastic! This is the quietest of all motors, it...'s well constructed and the smoke vent cover is great, it includes all mounting hardware, instructions, the fan reverses, and the thermostat works perfect. It's a FANTASTIC product!!!
1st one only had 2 speeds working (ordered online) returned it to the local Camping World for an exchange. It was not the easiest ...transaction, but, none the less they did exchange it.
2nd one worked great. Always test the unit out before caulking it down. Thank goodness I was out of caulk and
was going to Camping World the next day anyway.
This is a nice model. Its well made with a thermostat, reverse and 3 speeds. Pretty much all you need. I wanted one with a translu...cent cover, But all I could find was smoke. kind of glad about that because the smoke lens is great. lets a good amount of light in but knocks the glare down. Now after camping with this one installed I think I'm going to change my other vent out to match.
Our 2011 Winnebago View came with a cheap 3-speed power guzzling Fan-tastic vent fan in the front and a tiny useless fan in our re...ar bathroom. When it got hot we dreaded turning on these fans since they gobbled 12V power (terrible when boon docking), didn't move enough air, and they were noisy. We installed one of these in our front vent and wow what a difference! The thermostat only turns on the fan when it needs to saving both noise pollution and 12V power. It's also much more efficient at using air for the same power, especially at low & medium settings (1/2 to 1/3 the previous fan)... So low we can run both fans off our 327W SunPower solar panel and still have plenty of power to recharge our batteries. This lets us leave our RV in the sun to recharge our dual 232Ah Energizer GD2 Premium golf cart batteries while keeping our coach cool. The new vent opening mechanism are also much quieter and faster than the old Fan-tastic vent which we really appreciate when we want to close it during the night from our cab over bed. (Old vent would clunk clunk clunk and wake every one up). Also the new Smoke vent covers let in more light than the previous white opaque covers. And they give a beautiful window to the stars at night too! Only additional upgrade we installed was a Fan-tastic dual pane insulated lid on the vent above our cab over bed for cold weather camping. Helps keep the cold out better and doesn't fog up like the single pane vent lids. Highly recommended.
Pros: Power , Circulates air well, Visually attractive, Quiet
I installed one of these units to replace the salon fan, which was dead, and it works
great. I had my mechanic cut a hole in the... roof of the rear bedroom and with the
thermostat control I can keep it much cooler without the use of the AC.
Stylish, efficient, and very effective addition to any RV. I added cowlings so I can run
them as we travel down the road or in the rain.
My old fan was loud and was only an exhaust fan. This one will bring air in
and is ran on a thermostat - perfect for when I leav...e my old cat in the trailer. I had a vent
cover installed also - Fantastic brand - so I can cool the place in the rain. Very happy with
replaced the standard vent above our kitchen with this Fantastic one in order to improve
airflow and vent the area better w...hile cooking. Our kitchen area gets hot and the vent
has helped to fix this problem.
It has been working great and looks very nice compared to the aging vent that was
replaced. I love the reversible feature which lets us use it together with the other
Fantastic Vent we have in the rear of our RV. I usually keep both fans on 24/7 with the
thermostat set appropriately. When the temperature rises above the thermostat setting,
the fans kick in and cool down the rig. It's a perfect solution. I wouldn't have an RV
without at least one of these.
My previous experience with a fantastic fan was in a rental unit, this modern unit seems louder and does not have as powerful circ...ulation. It is the new golden colored pancake motor on this model, not the black one shown in the photo when I ordered it. It is not whisper quiet that is for sure, it's really not much quieter than the OEM (circa 1989) fan it's replaced. All in all it is a good fan, but not as good as it used to be. I would not treat the "Fantastic Fan" brand with any special expectations anymore.
I have a 91 Allegro,. The roof unit worked until about 2 months ago. It started with no exhaust but the intake air was working as well as the speed sw and the temp select.
I have checked all the fuses and wiring and it all checks out but the motor does not run.
To order replacement parts, please contact our Technical Service Group @ 800.622.6264(M-F, 8:00-5:00 CST). Please have the model number of your vent on hand.
The model number along with month and year the fan was manufactured is located on the top outside of the fan base in the corner. This is best seen from the top of the RV.

Not really. Use the Fantastic matching vent cover.

If you would like to install a cover over a powered vent such as this. The MaxxAir II, Maxxair FanMate, or Fan-Tastic's Ultrabreeze are recommended. While you will not be able to open the vent all the way with a cover installed, these units are designed to still allow for 85 to 95% free air flow unlike a standard vent cover.

This vent has 3 speeds, reverse capability, and a built-in thermostat. This model does not have an automatic lid or rain sensor. The rain sensor can be found on higher grade models like SKU#37333.

No, the thermostat is built in to the fan. A control knob on the vent is used to 'set' the temperature which the vent will then auto turn off/on based on the control knob setting and what ambient temperature is detected in the RV.
