Modern Day TV Antenna Technology

Modern technology continues to move forward, and where RV's are concerned, modern
technology is making everything on our RV's more user friendly. We become accustomed
to all of the luxuries and creature comforts our homes have to offer and we have the
same expectations when we travel in our RV. I thoroughly enjoy the
'getting back to nature' aspect of RVing, but I also like to kick back and tune in
to some of my favorite television programs when we're camping.
TV antennas on RV's have come a long way over the years. I can remember the old
TV antennas that took up half the roof or they were mounted to the side of the RV.
Even though they were very large you were lucky to get local television reception
where you were camping. That was back when televisions didn't come with remote
controls either. Now, just the thought of having to get up to go change the channel
seems ridiculous to us.
Modern day TV antennas for RV's have built in amplifiers that make it possible to
get excellent VHF/UHF reception, and more channels than ever before. Now you can
tune in to your favorite programs from more remote areas where you enjoy camping.
But what about that antenna crank handle? Did the TV antenna crank handle ever fall
off in your hand? It's happened to me on more than one occasion. And what about
getting up to rotate the antenna every time you change the channel? Or adjusting
the antenna for everybody who can't reach the roof mounted antenna controls.
Where's the modern day technology for TV antennas on our RV's?
Look no further! Camping World has the solution. It's the
Winegard Motorized Sensar Batwing Antenna.
This off-air antenna not only gives you the latest in technology for clear
television reception and lots of channels to choose from, but it eliminates
dealing with the roof-mounted antenna controls.
Now, instead of the old crank handle, you have a convenient push button control
panel that raises, stows and rotates the motorized TV antenna. You simply press
the power button and the LED lights indicate the position of the antenna.
You push the Raise/Stow button to raise the motorized antenna, and when you
change channels you press and hold either of the rotate buttons until you get
the best TV picture possible. The control panel lights will flash to warn you
of any obstruction in the way of the antenna. When it's time to leave,
you press the Raise/Stow button and the antenna will automatically return
to its home position before stowing. You can mount the control panel where
it's easy to operate the controls while viewing the TV picture. It doesn't
get much better than this.
The installation involves removing the old antenna, installing the new antenna
and drilling a hole in the roof to route cables to the control board and power supply.
You also need a fused 12-volt DC source to connect the power cable to and it's
recommended that this power source is separate from other appliances. I used a
stand-alone Pyramid PS-8KX 12-volt power supply. If the thought of drilling holes
in the roof of your RV makes you nervous, any Camping World SuperCenter can install

Once the installation is complete, it's well worth it. We get more TV stations,
better reception and it's all at the simple touch of a button. But don't forget
to stow the antenna when your camping trip is over. Pick up a handy
