Winter camping destinations in the Northeast

Even though the weather can be downright freezing during the winter months in the Northeast, many RV enthusiasts decide against storing their vehicles for the season and opt to head out and enjoy the camping lifestyle.

According to the website and blog RVing the East, winter camping on the East coast can be a great experience. The campgrounds that remain open are usually not crowded and the prices are discounted as well.

Travelers need to keep a few things in mind before heading out for a weekend away during the winter, however. Most campgrounds shut the water off to campsites after the first frost and services will be limited. Driving during and after a snowstorm can be tricky in an RV as well.

Among some of the top-recommended winter camping spots in the East are French Creek State Park located outside of Philadelphia, Otter Lake in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains, Normandy Farms located about 30 minutes outside of Boston and Cherry Hill Park located in College Park, Maryland, just a half hour outside of Washington D.C.
