RV sales rebounding
After what's being called the worst year ever for the RV industry, there are signs that the tide is changing for the industry and the nation's economic outlook in general.
RV sales have increased in the past few months. And, according to roamingtimes.com, shipments of RVs are expected to increase by 27 percent next year.
Recreational Vehicle Industry Association Vice President Mac Bryan said the industry is "cautiously optimistic" about a recovery. He said that a number of factors that will help fuel the increase include a strengthening stock market, attractive interest rates, low inflation rates, and improved business and buying conditions.
He added that the recovery in sales will be slower than in past years. "It is simply going to take longer for consumers to reestablish their economic footing as we emerge from this recession. However, given the positive signs we are now beginning to see in the RV market and the strong commitment of consumers to the RV lifestyle, the prospects for the RV industry are becoming more favorable," he said.
In addition, RV owners continue to plan trips and many say they'll use their vehicles even more in 2010. According to a weekly RVTravel.com survey, 31 percent of respondents said they will definitely travel more next year and 24 percent said they will probably travel more.
