Group supports female RVers
RVing isn't just for men, couples or families anymore. In fact, a social and recreational group dedicated to women who are interested in RVing has grown to nearly 2,500 members in 17 states in the past few years.
RVing Women was started in 1991 when two women travelling together noticed that many activities for RVers were geared towards couples even though they had seen many women travelling alone.
The group is dedicated to providing opportunities for networking, building friendships and sharing knowledge. Members range in age from 20 to 90, with the majority in the 50-70 year old age group. Many are professional and more than a third are retired or semi-retired. Motor homes are the most commonly owned type of RV, although some members don't yet own RVs but are learning and planning for a future purchase.
RVingWomen.org offers many resources including a message forum where members ask questions, share information, and plan trips. The RVing Women magazine addresses the needs and issues of the woman RVer with articles on a wide range of topics including safety on the road, how-to articles, women's issues, health issues, money issues and personal-interest stories.
Women over 18 years of age who enjoy the RVing lifestyle are invited to join. Membership is $55 per year.
