Keep the power flowing with a 50-amp RV Box Adapter

April 2011 RV Electrical & Solar by

If you've been to a number of different campsites, you may have found that not all offer the same voltage hookup. This can be a problem if you were planning on doing anything involving electricity. Luckily, there are adapters available to make your life easier. The 50-amp RV Box Adapter will allow you to use your 50-amp power cord in parks without the service.

Two 30-amp plugs on a heavy-duty 17-inch cord supply power to the 50-amp receptacle, and can receive power from any combination of 30, 20 or 15-amp sources. The ideal setup for this device is one 30-amp connection paired with another of either 20 or 15-amps. Using this adapter means you'll never be without power, regardless of where you set up your RV, and you will be free to operate your lights and appliances as they are needed.

The adapter has a built-in mechanism that prevents short circuiting, as well. If there is too much power coming from one source, the device will actually draw additional power needed from the second generator to compensate.
