It’s no secret that the rate of accidents resulting from distracted driving continues to escalate, making the nation’s roadways more hazardous, even for the most cautious among us.

Thankfully, there’s a solution…and it’s now available for RV enthusiasts.

Internationally acclaimed for the development and marketing of vision-based accident-avoidance systems, Mobileye (www.campingworld.com) brings its revolutionary driver-assistance technologies to the RV world through a newly formed retail distribution and installation agreement with Camping World.

Considering the size and cost of most RVs, the added safety that Mobileye offers is especially significant, not only for the driver and passengers, but also for those who are sharing the road. Mobileye provides this added peace of mind by combating the reasons for driver distraction, from drowsiness caused by long days behind the wheel, to cell phone use to other in-cab devices, which all too often result in that one split second of inattentiveness that puts drivers in potentially dangerous situations.

Mobileye has a safety solution for all of today’s drivers. It’s ideal for the first time coach driver, for your tow vehicle, if you have teenagers who are just learning to drive, if you’re behind the wheel of a minivan taking the kids to soccer practice. And best of all, Camping World can install C2-270 into any vehicle.

Offered at all Camping World locations as well as online at www.campingworld.com, Mobileye’s C2-270 crash avoidance system is making the nation’s roadways safer, reducing accidents and loss resulting from distracted driving. Available as original equipment from high-profile automakers like BMW, Volvo and General Motors, Mobileye has also adapted its technology as aftermarket equipment for passenger vehicles. Through its partnership with Camping World, Mobileye now brings this level of unprecedented safety to the RV world.

Mobileye’s C2-270 detects vehicles, lane markings and pedestrians, alerting the driver to unsafe driving circumstances by providing timely alerts that allow sufficient time for adjustment and, ultimately, accident-avoidance. Never distracted, the C2-270 is always looking forward and ready to warn the driver of sudden danger.

The C2-270’s primary components include a 1.5” x 2.5” smart camera, mounted on the inside of the windshield, housing the Mobileye SeeQ2® image processing board and the audible alert device; and a 1.9”high visibility display and control unit, which provides visual warnings and setting adjustment that allows the system to be tuned to an individual driver’s preferences.

Each Mobileye C2-270 system features:

Forward Collision Warning
To avoid an imminent rear-end collision with the vehicle or motorcycle ahead, C2-270 calculates the “Time-To-Collision” based on the distance and the relative speed between the two vehicles. C2-270 can alert the driver up to 2.5 seconds before a collision occurs, allowing enough time to react, thus avoiding or mitigating any collision. The warning is active at all speeds, alerting a driver to potential forward collision whether at highway speeds or if unknowingly creeping toward the vehicle in front at a traffic light.

Pedestrian Collision Warning
Alerting the driver with visual and audio warnings of an imminent collision with a pedestrian or cyclist, Mobileye’s C2-270 issues a warning up to two seconds before a possible collision takes place, providing the driver time to respond. Useful in all vehicle/pedestrian environments, this feature can be particularly valuable when maneuvering through an RV park.

Lane Departure Warning
C2-270 alerts the driver with visual and audible warnings when deviating unintentionally from the driving lane, a situation that may end in a run-off-road crash or head-on collision. The warning is overridden by use of the proper turn signal and is only active above 35 mph to avoid unnecessary alerts during low speed maneuvering. Studies have shown an 80 percent decrease in lane-departure related crashes using lane departure alert technology.

Headway Monitoring & Warning
Many drivers overestimate the following distance to the vehicle in front, leaving them insufficient time to react. The Headway Monitoring function advises following time to the vehicle in front and issues audible and visual alerts according to the settings the driver has selected. This warning is active above 20 mph, to avoid unnecessary alerts during slow, heavy traffic. The Mobileye C2-270 enhances driving safety and can significantly reduce rear impact collisions by helping drivers maintain proper following times.

“Our goal has continually been to make the nation’s roads safer in the face of increasing driver distractions,” states Mobileye, Inc. CEO Skip Kinford. “This retail agreement with Camping World provides us with a unique opportunity to bring our world-class accident-avoidance technology to RV enthusiasts throughout the country. It also affirms that we’re moving closer to realizing our ultimate objective.”

Putting a price on safety
Make no mistake: there’s no replacement for attentive driving. Rather, the addition of the driver-alert capabilities of the Mobileye C2-270 significantly mitigates the threat of an on-road incident. For today’s RV enthusiast, what’s more important than adding a level of unprecedented safety to the wondrous experiences that the open road can offer?
