More Baby Boomers leaning toward RV travel after retirement

November 2011 RV Industry and Lifestyle by

As more members of the Baby Boomer generation begin to retire, the number of RV owners is steadily increasing. Industry experts say this is no coincidence - Boomers appear to be invested in carrying out their love of travel, and many of people are doing it on wheels, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

"The baby boomers are entering prime RV age, which is now 48 years old," Kevin Broom, director of media relations at the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, told the news source. "People want an inexpensive and fun way to retire, and RVs are the answer. You're on your own schedule. No flights, no reservations. You do things at your own pace and your own pleasure."

Many Baby Boomers also remember a time when camping via recreational vehicle was the norm. At one point in American history just a few decades ago, taking the cover off of the old RV and exploring the country on the road was the ideal way to vacation.

Now, traveling in an RV is becoming a more viable option for Baby Boomers who want the luxuries of home. More vehicles are being developed with high-tech accommodations and accessories that provide comfort to travelers who make convenience a priority.
