Cast-iron cookware combines heat retention with durability

February 2012 RV News by

When imagining cooking over a campfire in the middle of the woods, there is something appetizing about the traditional iron pot hanging on a spit over the fire. Iron cookware has been used since the invention of metal due to its ability to withstand high temperatures. There is no reason not to add this rustic touch to a camping trip.

The CW Gear Cast Iron Cookware Set has every instrument a chef could want. The two-quart saucepan and six-quart Dutch oven can easily be hung over a fire to boil water, soup and more. There is a skillet for frying, a lifter for easy movement, and a double-sided griddle to cater to different kinds of cooking.

"This is well worth the value!" said a poster on CampingWorld.com. "The pots came in a reusable wood box that closes. If you have never cooked in cast iron, try this set, I use the kettle for almost everything from baking to stewing. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cast iron cooking."

A cast-iron set is easy to use, clean and maintain, and campers should keep in mind the convenience offered by these pots and pans.
