The backpacker does not have access to the comforts that the average camper does, and the lack of electricity is one of the more challenging issues that these hikers face. Sleeping bags can be very comfortable, but this quality can disappear when they are stretched over rocky ground. Traditional air mattresses use electric pumps to inflate, but these require either batteries or an outlet to function. For backpackers looking to truly rough it, the Sove blue mattress pad can be pumped up with a lungful of air.

The pad measures 72x20x1 inches to allow most standard sleeping bags to rest on top of it. It comes with its own carrying sack that can be easily strung to a backpack frame, and the included repair kit can patch holes in the event of a tear. The foam core also insulates the upper layer from the ground to ensure maximum comfort in both hot and cold climates.
