The right walking stick can assist hikers in tough conditions

February 2012 RV News by

While walking sticks are traditionally seen as aids to the physically impaired, they can still be used effectively in the wilderness by a camper or hiker to provide stability. These staffs can be used for something as simple as walking down a few RV steps or a task as complex as navigating an alpine ridge. In the outdoors, they can prevent broken ankles and other injuries that result from poor footing and support.

The Walker Antishock Light pole is a great choice for the average camper taking a day trip through the woods. The multi-functional grip features innovative cork technology that is both flexible and durable, and the included strap ensures that it will stay attached even if released suddenly in the event of a fall. The pole can extend or collapse to different sizes to accommodate users of any height, to a maximum length of 100 centimeters and a minimum of 50 centimeters.

The tungsten-carbide tip can handle abrasive surfaces such as rocks and ice with ease, and will not wear down extensively over time. This adaptable staff can be used for walking, climbing and anything in-between, and should not be left behind on wilderness treks.
