Going with the Flow

Portable water pumps take the effort out of moving water from point A to point B both in your RV and at home.

If you’ve ever had to bail out a boat after a sudden rainstorm, you know how back-breaking and time-consuming a chore that can be. Got a koi pond, kiddie pool or a hot tub that needs to be drained and cleaned out? More bailing. Ready to open your backyard pool for the season but a small lake has collected on the cover? How to get rid of that?

These are just some of the jobs that an electric water pump can perform for you, saving your time and your back. With a power pump, you can go about other tasks or sit back and relax while it does the work: pumping water from the live well in your fishing boat, emptying a cooler full of melted ice without heavy lifting, draining an aquarium for cleaning, removing the water from a sink or bathtub with a clogged drain, or pumping water from a tub onto your flower or vegetable garden when the faucet is too far away for your hose to reach.

Mobile Pumping Power

The only problem with an electric pump is where to plug it in. Unless you have 120-volt access, that work-saving pump is useless. A cordless water pump, like the AquaCharge rechargeable water pump, can do all of the above chores for RV and home owners.

Weighing only 3 ½ lbs., the AquaCharge is equipped with a Rule DC pump, a brand with over 45 years of operational experience, and the same pump used in over seven million marine bilge pumps. The DC motor in the AquaCharge is found in over 15 million applications. Both pump and motor are built for extreme use.

Fully submersible, AquaCharge pumps fresh or salt water. Because it runs on a rechargeable battery, you can use it anywhere. It can pump up to 200 gallons on a single charge and has a removable strainer that allows quick and easy cleaning. Connect a standard garden hose or use the included 8' hose to send water where you want it. An ergonomic on/off control knob is easy to operate even with wet hands. The long-life 9.6 volt NiMH battery recharges in about 12 hours in the included charging station with a 120-volt adapter. Charge it up at any standard household power outlet and it’s ready to go.

Easy Dumping

Emptying black and grey water holding tanks are among the more odious tasks that RVers have to perform, but the addition of macerator pump like the Flojet Portable Waste Pump simplifies the task and gives the RVer more options as to where to empty the tanks.

The Flojet Waste Pump empties black and grey water holding tanks quickly and easily anywhere you have access to a sewer port, at home or at the campground, without a 3" sewer hose and fittings. Because it simply twists on like any other sewer fitting, there is no need for permanent installation—just a 12-volt power connection. Connect a 5/8" water hose routed to the sewer port, activate the macerator pump with the handheld remote control and open the sewer valve. A stainless steel macerator pulverizes waste and tissue to 1/8" particles as it empties a typical 30 gallon holding tank in less than three minutes. The pump pulls waste from the tanks and pumps it up to 50' through the hose, even if the sewer port is uphill from the RV.

After emptying the tanks, connect a water hose to the built-in back-flush adapter with anti-siphon valve to blast a stream of water through a 3/4" garden hose to dislodge stubborn tank residue. Dump and flush tanks and lines all with one connection, without dragging a water hose through your RV.

The macerator handles all normal RV black and grey water waste. It won’t grind up hard solid objects, sanitary products or rags but these materials should not be disposed of in your RV waste tanks anyway. The self-priming pump has built-in run-dry protection, so you can safely power up the pump before opening the RV waste valve. It comes with a hard-side storage case.

A macerator pump like the Flojet model saves you time and money when emptying RV holding tanks. Why wait in line at the campground dump station or pay to dump at a commercial facility when you can empty your holding tanks at home via a sewer cleanout or septic tank port?

The AquaCharge Cordless Water Pump and the Flojet Portable Waste Pump are both available at Camping World, along with Flojet fresh water pumps for RV and marine fresh water systems.
