Many New Orleans Saints fans who have already rented RVs to travel to the Super Bowl in Miami this weekend are being forced to come up with alternate options for their pre-game celebrations.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that many Saints fans, known as "Who Dats," are being told that the type of tailgate parties they're accustomed to on their home turf won't be allowed in Miami.
The newspaper reports that according to NFL rules, tailgating that involves barbecuing or large gatherings are prohibited in the Sun Life Stadium parking lot before the Super Bowl. Other nearby options are slim as well, with local police saying they will strictly enforce open container laws and unauthorized parking in private lots.
Fans are now scrambling to find parking for their RVs and make alternate plans for their parties.
Saints fan Jay Foster tells the newspaper that he was scrambling to organize a large tailgate party for several fans but soon realized the hurdles. After learning that parking would be limited and restrooms a significant challenge, he decided instead to book a banquet room at the El Palacio Sports Hotel and Conference Center, about a mile from the stadium.
