Washington DC Blizzard forces RVIA to cancel

February 2010 RV Industry and Lifestyle by
Print   |   Email
The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) has cancelled its annual advocacy day and postponed its board meeting scheduled for this week due to the blizzard that hit Washington, D.C. last weekend and a forecast that calls for more snow later this week.

Advocacy Day, which was slated for February 10th, is an annual event that gives RVIA members a chance to meet U.S. senators and state representatives and discuss issues that are important to the RV industry.

"Advocacy Day is vitally important to our efforts to increase awareness of the RV industry on the federal level," said Jay Landers, senior director of RVIA's Government Affairs Department. "Congressional visits help strengthen relationships between RVIA members and the members of Congress who represent their states and districts."

An RVIA spokesman says that there aren't plans to reschedule the event.

"The board meeting will be rescheduled, but I don't think that Advocacy Day will be," said RVIA spokesman Bill Baker.

Baker said it hasn't been determined whether the RVIA board will meet in Washington or whether the meeting will be conducted during a conference call.ADNFCR-2712-ID-19604131-ADNFCR
