'Glamping' gaining popularity
Many RVers have been "glamping" for years in their high-end, well-appointed vehicles. For others who aren't avid campers or outdoorsmen, however, "glamping" may be a good way for them to connect with and enjoy nature in style.
Resorts and campsites that cater to "glampers" are popping up across the nation. Ohio State Parks, for example, has expanded its rent-a-camp program that started in the 1970s by providing would-be campers with all of the equipment they needed for a stay in the wilderness. Today, it includes everything from upgraded tent sites and rustic cabins with microwaves to deluxe cabins with mini refrigerators. Some also feature televisions, ceiling fans and even air conditioning, according to OhioMagazine.com.
Some campgrounds also rent yurts to appeal to "glampers." These round, semi-permanent tents often include kitchens, private bathrooms and other comforts of home - all in a rustic, outdoor setting.
High-end "glamping" can even include concierge service, personal chefs and butlers.
Finding the perfect "glamping" vacation for you can be as easy as contacting various campgrounds to enquire about their amenities or searching the internet. GoGlamping.net allows users to search luxury outdoor getaways around the world.
