Awnings 101
Just like there are different types of RVs, there are different types of patio awnings. Some extend and retract manually, and are easily operated by one person. Others operate automatically at the push of a button, powered by 12-volt motors that run off coach battery power. It only takes one person to extend a power awning, so any family member can take over that job when you make camp.
The canopy on an RV awning can be made of either heavy-duty vinyl or woven acrylic fabric. Both fabrics offer some inherent advantages.
Vinyl fabric is 100% waterproof and blocks 100% of the sun’s rays. Vinyl awning canopies are either double-sided (color and design appear on top and underside of fabric) or single-sided (underside of fabric is a solid color, usually white).
Acrylic fabric provides 22% cooler shade than vinyl because it allows warm air to move upward through the woven fibers. The woven fibers filter sunlight so your patio is lighter when the awning is extended. While highly water resistant, woven acrylic fabric is not completely waterproof. The color and design of acrylic fabric is visible on both the top and underside of the fabric.
Both vinyl and woven acrylic fabrics are treated to resist UV rays, mold and mildew. Both are easy to clean, using cleaners appropriate to each type of fabric. Dometic offers a wide choice of color options to complement any RV exterior in both vinyl and acrylic fabrics.
Awnings for Every RV

A wireless handheld remote offers fingertip operation; patented piston-driven Rain Shed automatically directs water off the awning to prevent pooling and fabric tearing. th wheels and travel trailers. The double-sided vinyl fabric assures long life. Strong rounded rafter arms withstand years of use without bowing or warping. Knee Action Design™ hardware lets the awning flex in moderate wind. A heavy-duty vinyl weathershield protects the awning during travel. The 9100 is available in lengths from 10' to 21' and extends up to 8'.

8500 Plus manual awning is Dometic’s most popular RV patio awning. It sports a double-sided vinyl canopy that resists fading, scratching and staining. The rich, vibrant colors make the 8500 Plus look great on any RV, from Class A and C motorhomes to 5
th wheels and travel trailers. The 8500 Plus is available in lengths from 8' to 25' and extends up to 8'. A white or color-coordinated vinyl weathershield is standard; a metal weathershield is optional.
The
9000 Plus manual awning shares the same hardware as the 8500 Plus, and offers cool shade under a woven acrylic canopy and a standard metal weathershield. The 9000 Plus extends up to 8' and is available in lengths from 14' to 25' for Class A and C motorhomes, 5
th wheels and travel trailers.
Universal Plus manual awning hardware, found on both the 8500 Plus and 9000 Plus, is built for durability and easy operation. Heavy-duty torsion springs keep fabric at the optimal tension when the awning is extended. When water accumulates on top of the awning fabric, Dometic’s exclusive piston-action Rain Shed lowers one corner of the awning so water drains off instead of pooling on the fabric, causing sagging and tearing.
Dometic offers five hardware colors on the WeatherPro, 9100, 8500 Plus and 9000 Plus patio awnings: Satin Silver, Polar White, Black, Champagne and Gold. This allows RV owners to coordinate a metal weathershield and awning support arms to the exterior color of their RV.
The manually-operated
Horizon II case awning is perfect for truck campers, Class B motorhomes, compact trailers or any smaller RV. The double-sided vinyl canopy extends up to 7'. The exclusive V-strut lateral arm support resists bowing and keeps the fabric tensioned for rapid water runoff. An easy-operating hand crank and pivot make set-up simple. The
Trim Line case awning installs easily on your pop-up camper’s awning rail and extends up to 7' in only minutes for quick shade. It stores in a weatherproof heavy-duty vinyl zippered pouch. Click-lock poles support the single-sided vinyl canopy at the right pitch to let rain drain away. The Trim Line is available in lengths from 7' to 12' and can be outfitted with its own optional Trim Line Screen Room for bug-free living space.
