Individuals interested in exploring the California Department of Parks and Recreation's 270 locations can now do so on-the-go, thanks to a new application for the iPhone and iPod
California Parks 1.1 gives users information on park description, location, activities, operation hours, and contact information. People can use the app to search for favorite activities, find the best park, preview photographs, find current weather conditions, pinpoint the location on a map and plan the trip.
Users can also download their own pictures to be used as part of the information.
California state parks consist of nearly 1.4 million acres, with more than 280 miles of coastline, 625 miles of lake and river frontage, nearly 15,000 campsites, and 3,000 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails.
They include underwater preserves, reserves, wildlife reserves, state beaches, recreation areas, wilderness areas, reservoirs, historic homes, Spanish era adobe buildings, lighthouses, ghost towns, water-slides, conference centers, and off-highway vehicle parks.
The application sells for $1.99 and is available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the travel category. It is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
