Tips for updating your RV flooring

June 2010 RV Windows & Floors by

Keeping your RV looking updated can be a challenge for some people. After all, many wonder if the same decorating and do-it-yourself projects they use in brick-and-mortar homes will work in a motor home.

One way to instantly update the look of your RV is to install new carpet or laminate flooring. The owners of Dave & LJ's RV Interior Design in Woodland, Washington, recently blogged about using laminate flooring to change the look of your vehicle.

They wrote that laminate flooring, which comes in both tile and wood grain patterns, is an ideal choice for RVs since it is beautiful, durable and easy to clean.

Installing it can be a rather simple do-it-yourself job with the help of an installation kit. However, individuals who are installing flooring in an RV with slide outs may want to consider hiring a professional installer to ensure the flooring won't be damaged by opening and closing slide outs.

A more economical option for keeping RV flooring clean is to purchase a temporary, self-adhesive, clear plastic protection called a carpet mask for your RV carpet. This product is ideal for use in high traffic areas, such as near the door or in front of a captain's chair.
