Summer grilling ideas

June 2010 RV Kitchen by

Whether you choose a gas or charcoal grill, there are options galore when it comes to choosing a portable barbeque for your RV or motor home.

Top-rated gas grills include the O-Grill 1000, the Coleman Fold N Go Grill, the Grill 2 Go Express, the Weber Q220 and the Stainless Steel Mountable Grill.

Charcoal options include the Charcoal Tabletop Grill, the New Original Grill, the Rebel Charcoal Grill, the Pioneer Grill and the Explorer Grill.

Bringing a portable grill along while RVing is a great way to ensure you eat healthier on the road. Instead of eating out each night, a grill is a great way to stay out of the hot RV kitchen and prepare some good, old fashioned home cooking while away from home.

Some healthy grilling options include turkey hot dogs, lean beef, turkey burgers and fish.

Instead of adding extra calories to your burger with cheese, mayo and a big bun, opt instead for fresh seasonal veggies, ketchup, mustard or barbeque sauce and a reduced fat, whole wheat bun.

Taking advantage of summer's in-season vegetables is also a healthy barbeque option. Grill foods like zucchini, summer squash, corn and peppers and leave out the sometimes fattening macaroni and potato salads.
