With sleeping for up to eight, the Dutchmen Classic 26B travel trailer is cleverly designed to keep an active family comfortable on weekend getaways and summer vacations. For starters, the built-in Media Center offers a nifty flat screen HDTV that swivels so it can be viewed from either the living room or master bedroom, plus an AM/FM/CD/DVD/MP3 stereo system.
A driver-side “Super Lounge” slideout moves the oversized 84" x 48" U-shaped dinette and a sofa bed away from the open kitchen, so there’s plenty of room to move around inside the main living area. Easy-care, premium Beauflor vinyl flooring that withstands extreme heat and cold is found throughout the coach, helping to make this travel trailer kid- and pet- friendly.
Dutchmen’s “Store More” cabinetry design, also found throughout the coach, offers more storage space with full access cabinets and larger drawers, a large kitchen pantry and a pots-and-pans drawer. The “Double Skylights” design allows ambient light to brighten the kitchen and bathroom—the two most-used areas of the coach—so they feel open and spacious.
Snooze Control
The master bedroom offers a queen size bed and plenty of storage in overhead cabinets, twin shirt closets/nightstands and under the lift-up bed platform. The extra-long 68" Comfort Air hide-a-bed sofa with air mattress rolls out for more sleeping space, and the dinette also converts to a bed (a free-standing dinette is optional but eliminates the extra sleeping space). Rear bunk beds will appeal to the younger set, and offer easy access to the roomy rear bath with foot-flush toilet, sink, hardwood medicine cabinet with mirror and fiberglass tub/shower. A power exhaust vent sends shower steam up and out.
Galley Full of Goodies
The kitchen packs everything a camp cook wants, from a big double sink with hi arc faucet to a three-burner stove with oven and overhead exhaust vent and microwave. A large pantry between the stove and refrigerator stands atop three roll-out drawers for linens and utensils. Overhead and undercounter cabinets hold all your cooking equipment. Sink and stove covers expand counter space for meal preparation.
Classic Chassis
The 26B features classic Dutchmen construction. It’s built on a heavy-duty steel I-beam frame with 2 5/16" coupler, break-away trailer switch, heavy-duty safety chains and easy-lube axles. A diamond plate rock guard behind the twin LP cylinders protects against road debris. The walls are wood stud construction with heavy-duty belt rail and R7 fiberglass insulation. The truss-style walk-on roof with fiberglass insulation sports an EPDM rubber surface with 12-year manufacturer warranty. Extra long extended rain gutters divert run-off to help eliminate streaks on the metal sidewalls (fiberglass sidewalls are optional).
By the Numbers
At 28'8" long overall with an 11' exterior height, the 26B has a dry weight of 6202 lbs. with 3478 lbs. net cargo capacity. Hitch weight is 804 lbs. Dutchmen’s “Acu-Weight” certification includes the weight of options; all units are weighed at the factory, so the weights listed are the real numbers you have to work with when matching trailer to tow vehicle.
The 26B offers a 46 gallon fresh water tank, 42 gallon grey and black water tanks and a 30,000 BTU furnace. Equipped with the “Original Dutchmen” Value Package, it includes a power patio awning, 13.5K roof air conditioner, large double-door gas/electric refrigerator, one cubic foot microwave with carousel, four-corner stabilizer jacks, spare tire with carrier, tinted safety glass windows, Night Shades in the living area plus a six gallon quick recovery gas/electric DSI water heater with winterizing bypass kit and low point drains. An “Armor Guard” Protection Package encloses and heats the fresh water tank that’s mounted below the floor to increase interior storage.
Storage Solutions
Speaking of storage, Dutchmen knows how much camping families need it, so along with the interior “Store More” cabinet storage design, they developed the “Pac-N-Play” exterior storage system, with locking storage front and rear via large radius corner doors. The rear door accesses the bunk beds, so you can easily get to anything you have stored on the beds during the day from outside the coach. “Storage Plus” compartments up front offer lots of room for cords, hoses, patio lights, chairs and the other gear you need to set up a proper campsite.
Exterior Extras
Other outside conveniences on the 26B include an LP quick connect to power a gas grill; an ABS LP cylinder cover with quick fill panel for the twin 20 lb. cylinders with auto-changeover regulator; an exterior shower/wash station; a 120-volt outlet; rear bumper sewer hose storage and a detachable 30-amp power cord.
