Survey reveals technology habits of RVers

An eight-week survey conducted for BigRig Media, a web design firm for the RV resort and outdoor hospitality industry, has revealed that many RV enthusiasts are using technology while away from home.

The nationwide survey, which include 660 respondents, found that 93 percent of RV owners travel with a laptop computer, 39 percent travel with a "smart phone" with internet access, 47 percent have internet access while travelling all of the time and 45 percent depend on the internet for news and information more than print publications.

"Knowing when and how people access and use the internet for information is an important part of creating not only visually dynamic sites, but effective sites for our clients," said BigRig Media's CEO Jeff Beyer.

The survey was conducted by BowStern, a national marketing firm specializing in the RV industry.

The survey consisted of 25 short questions which covered a broad range of topics designed to help industry leaders better understand the RV market, while improving the RV experience for users.

The survey was taken by RVers representing 37 states. Nearly half (46.5 percent) of all participants were between the age of 66 and 75 years old.

Findings on travel patterns and planning, resort preferences and demographic information will be released in the coming weeks.
