Actor Jeff Daniels travels in a 'glorified RV'
Actor Jeff Daniels, best known for roles in movies such as Dumb and Dumber and Terms of Endearment, is devoting much of his time recently to singing and songwriting and is currently touring the country.
"I've wanted to do this for a long time," Daniels, who's been playing guitar and writing songs since the late 1970s, told Billboard.com. "The problem with touring is you have to book these dates six months out, and movies can happen with a phone call."
Instead of focusing on his acting career, Daniels decided to carve out a few months this year to bring his folksy and funny musical show on tour, and he's doing it in an RV.
"We sleep in truck stops and RV parks," Daniels recently told The Charlotte Observer. "I drive it too. Call me eccentric. That's a great way to see the country." The current tour isn't the first time this Hollywood insider has packed up an RV and hit the road.
"If you go to the Jeff Daniels channel on YouTube you'll see 13 episodes that are six minutes each of this RV trip I took in December 2009 through the upper peninsula of Michigan in a 22-inch snowstorm. The webisodes are teaching you how to drive an RV in whiteout conditions," he told the newspaper.
Daniels will be touring into early December and is already booking 2011 dates.
