Recently, a number of families have pulled the
covers off of their motorhomes and hit the open road to flock to Yonder Hill Family RV Park in Madison, Maine. The Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts chain welcomed the park as the first Maine campground to join the organization.
Business at the park was up this year between 12 and 15 percent compared to 2009, according to Yonder Hill officials. Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts are known for their abundance of family-friendly activities and themed weekends. Yonder Hill believes that the park could see double the amount of visitors due to its new affiliation with Jellystone. Currently, Yonder Hill offers activities including whitewater rafting, hiking and biking.
"We typically book about 10,000 site nights a summer, but with any luck we'll get it to 20,000 next summer," said park owner Allen York. "Anybody can provide a place to stay overnight. What we want to do is get that customer to want to come back again and again."
Jellystone Park-Camp Resorts has been in existence since 1969. Currently, it is the largest recreational vehicle campground chain in the United States.
