College students take shots to win an RV or free tuition
Talk about an ideal way to tailgate for college sports events of all kinds! Camping World is giving some students at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the opportunity to win either an RV or a semester of tuition.
According to the Marquette Tribune, Camping World and Pepsi are each sponsoring their own versions of the tuition shot challenge during halftime at men's basketball games at the Bradley Center. In both cases, a random student gets the opportunity to shoot for the prize.
In the Camping World challenge, participants must sink a half-court shot to win an RV or shoot a three-pointer to win free tuition for a semester, valued at about $14,000.
For the Pepsi challenge, students have 24 seconds to make a number of shots – a lay-up, a free throw, a three-pointer and a half-court shot. If they make all three, Pepsi gives them $10,000 toward their Marquette tuition.
The last student to win the Camping World challenge for free tuition was freshman Patrick Bender in 2007.
"People always ask me how I felt after I made the shot and it's hard to explain because it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Bender said. "It’s awesome to say that I made a shot on a NBA court during a Marquette men's basketball game on ESPN."
