Getaway Idea: Saratoga National Historical Park

Saratoga National Historical Park, located in Stillwater, New York, is home to the battlefield upon which one of the most significant battles of the Revolutionary War took place and is rich in U.S. history.

The park consists of three main sites - the battlefield, the Schuyler house, which is the restored country house of American General Philip Schuyler, and the Saratoga Monument, which commemorates the American victory in the Battles of Saratoga.

The park is prime country not only for history enthusiasts but also for birders, horseback riders, snowshoers, and bicyclists. Ranger programs for adults and children, free concerts, candlelight tours, a July 4th Citizenship Service, historic encampments and other special events throughout the year attract visitors from all over the world.

The entrance fee to the park is $5 per car and is valid for seven days.

This destination comes from the National Park Getaways series, which helps people find new places to reconnect with nature, history, family and friends.
