The annual Mardi Gras celebrations don't get underway for more than a week, but some RVers in Mobile, Alabama, are already ready for the party to begin.
According to Mobile's Fox 10 TV, the city's temporary RV city is already filling up. It's located under an overpass and can accommodate nearly 200 campers for the celebration.
The RV city's volunteer coordinator, Ike Jimenez, has been working on the plan for months.
"A lot of phone calls, a lot of emails, a lot of coordination for the types of trailers that are here," Jimenez told the television station.
Many RVers have been coming to Mobile and staying in the RV city for years. They know that it's important to come early, especially if you have a lot of friends and family joining in for the celebration.
Another advantage of arriving early at an RV destination is being able to choose your site. You can choose whether you want a space right in the center of the action or one that's more private and secluded.
Keep in mind that arriving early ensures you'll actually have a place to set up camp for your visit as well. And, you'll be able to get familiarized with your surroundings before activities and events begin.
