Recipe contest to raise money for the needy
Many motorhome and trailer owners have become experts at cooking meals on the road. Now, they will have the opportunity to share their recipes and compete for a prize to provide assistance to needy Americans.
Recently, the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) announced that it has launched a recipe drive in conjunction with Microwave Connection to raise money to help feed the hungry. RV owners can submit their own motorhome-friendly recipes to the FMCA Recipes for the Road website until March 2011. Those who provide a submission will be entered in a drawing to win a muffin and cupcake baking set for the road, provided by Microwave Connection. The prize has an estimated value of $60.
Motorhome-friendly recipes for soups, salads, appetizers, main dishes and desserts are all accepted by FMCA. Janet Sadlack is the owner of Microwave Connection, a website where microwave-cooking enthusiasts can stay in touch and exchange recipes.
She adds that the Recipes for the Road project is not only an ideal opportunity to share cooking tips, but help the millions of Americans who lack the funds to feed themselves.
Spending three days at a campground in a motorhome costs an average of $647, according to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association.
