Preparing your RV for its first outing of the season
As the snow melts and spring approaches, thoughts start to turn to the outdoors and how soon you can get that RV on the road. Chances are you've had your vehicle underneath a tarp all winter and the time has come to get it ready for its first camping trip of the year.
If you took the battery out when you stowed your RV for the season, reinstall it and check to make sure your brakes and lights work properly. If they do, it's time to begin a more thorough inspection.
Flushing the water system is a good idea and is required if you pumped antifreeze through your water tank in the winter. Simply add a cup of bleach to a gallon of water and pour it into your empty tank. Run all of your faucets until you smell bleach and then let the water sit for 24 hours. The next day, drain the tank and fill it with fresh water. Run your faucets again until you can't smell bleach anymore. You can do this a few times to make sure all of the bleach has left your system.
