Arizona camping fees increase

There may be a surprise in store for RVers looking to spend some time at a few popular northwestern Arizona campgrounds.

According to the Mohave Daily News, three local campgrounds - the Burro Creek Campground, the Wild Cow Springs Campground and the Windy Point Campground - have recently had their site fees increased by the Bureau of Land Management.

"Increasing camping fees is one of the least popular things we do. But, cutting services such as supplying running water, garbage pickup, and offering dump stations, is equally unpopular," Bureau of Land Management Resources Manager Jackie Neckels told the newspaper.

Fees have not been increased at these campgrounds for 11 years. The new rates were made necessary by increases in labor and fuel costs and are in line with what other local campgrounds are charging, according to Neckels.

Individual sites at the Burro Creek Campground are now $14 per night, while group sites are $50. At the Burro Creek Campground, individual sites are $8 per night and group sites are $20 per night. And, individual sites at the Windy Point Campground have been raised to $8 per night.
