An expert's list of fun extras for your RV

There are so many RV products on the market these days that it can be difficult to figure out which ones are useful and which ones are a waste of money. Consumer product expert Jim Johnson offers some tips on appliances, equipment and accessories that are worth the investment and can help to make your family's RVing experiences more fun.

Johnson says a satellite dish hookup can help make entertainment accessible anywhere on the road. Using one is as easy as cranking up the dish wherever you park and finding the place where the reception is best. Expand your satellite service to include the internet and you'll have an easy way to stay in touch with friends and family or simply surf the web while on the road.

A GPS navigation system is an ideal extra for anyone who tends to get lost or have trouble following a map. They can pinpoint your exact location and help you find the easiest route to your final destination, even when you're already lost. Most systems start at just over $100 and are considered a great investment for many.

Johnson also says investing in a washer/dryer combo for your RV can make your trip more fun. He argues that although doing laundry is hardly exciting for many, avoiding long lines and making sure you have enough change to clean your clothes at a laundromat certainly can put a damper on your trip.

It's important to consider how you travel when choosing which extras will be worth it to you. Take advantage of online RV blogs for more information on specific manufacturers, models and dealers.
