Throw an RV shower

People throw showers for everything from weddings and new babies to housewarmings. Since an RV is essentially a house on wheels, some have started a new tradition: RV showers.

Adrienne Kristine of NewRVer.com has some suggestions on how to have a shower for yourself or someone else buying their first RV or upgrading to a new one.

Set up a registry at Camping World or make suggestions on what you need to make gift-giving easier. Kristine suggests that presents be wrapped in paper that will burn in a campfire and that guests use things like Velcro strips or plastic straps instead of ribbon, since they are reusable.

The gift-giving possibilities are endless. Books, DVDs and magazine subscriptions always make great gifts, especially when you can custom tailor them to the occasion. Big ticket items like grills, GPS systems and generators are perfect for RV lovers. Smaller, less expensive items like duct tape, maps and smoke detectors are also great ideas.

Have guests make their favorite camping dish to share with everyone as a potluck or just plan on serving easy, fool-proof on the go foods.

And, send your friends home with a small gift for showering the guest(s) of honor, too. A favorite recipe, article or gadget is a nice way to say thank you.
