New product promises to keep campers warm as temperatures drop

Camping isn't just a warm weather sport. Whether you're enjoying the fall foliage in New England or the early snow out west, keeping warm while camping in cooler temperatures has never been easier.

Dressing appropriately is paramount when planning a cold-weather outdoor trip or activity. But a new, portable heater promises to warm you up when the temperatures drop.

The HeatMate 5200 Portable Alcohol Heater from Contoure offers an efficient, safe source of heat that doubles as a stove when the lid is removed. With 5,200 BTUs of heat, it's a good option for outdoor camping, tailgating, fishing or hunting.

At just over 5 pounds, it's lightweight and has a carrying strap making it convenient to transport.

The HeatMate uses environmentally-friendly alcohol for fuel and is spill-proof. It can be turned upside down without leaking and the fire can easily be put out with water.

When the top is removed, it also can serve as a stove, promising to boil a quart of water in under 10 minutes.

The HeatMate 5200 retails for about $170 dollars.
