Jayco sticks to humble beginnings as company grows

Many RV enthusiasts prefer to do business with a company that has a long-standing reputation for having the customer's best interest in mind. Jayco, which was established in 1968, has upheld that image for more than four decades for generations of camping lovers across the country.

Jayco was first started by Lloyd Bontrager, who believed that there had to be a way to create a more efficient RV. After growing tired of what he was seeing on the market, Bontrager started Jayco on the farm he owned with his wife, Bertha. With her support, Bontrager quickly found success from his humble beginnings. By the end of 1968, Jayco had 15 employees and had sold 132 fold-down camping trailers. Little did Bontrager and his wife know that this was the beginning of a successful company.

Today, more than 1,600 people work for Jayco. The goal of the company is to treat all employees like "family," tracing back to its roots. Approximately 25,000 customers purchase vehicles from Jayco every year for their camping needs.

More than 300 dealers sell Jayco RVs across the country. The vehicles are manufactured out of Middlebury, Indiana for consumers. The company's mission has not changed, nor has its standards for excellence.
