Fleetwood sees success over the course of more than 50 years

When people think of travel trailers, Fleetwood Enterprises often comes to mind. This RV manufacturer has been producing top-quality vehicles since the 1950s and continues to be a mainstay in the industry today.

Fleetwood first began as a company dedicated to creating window treatments for RVs. The business was originally known as Coach Specialities Company, operated by John Crean and his wife. Fleetwood first began production in a greenhouse in California where Crean also built his own first motorhome. By 1954, the demand for Crean's products was too large for the greenhouse and three manufacturing plants were opened.

Coach Specialties Company changed its name to Fleetwood Enterprises by 1957, which was also around the time that Crean began looking into other investment opportunities. After seeing potential in the motorhome market, Fleetwood began rolling out RVs to consumers interested in camping.

Since starting more than 50 years ago, Fleetwood has come a long way. The business is now a Fortune 500 company and has become a household name. Consumers who go to Fleetwood for camping gear are never disappointed by the quality of the products.
