Thor’s New Tuscany XTE
From the expansive living and dining area to the massive 72" x 80" king bed in the master suite, the new Tuscany XTE 36MQ diesel class A from Thor Motor Coach gives you plenty of room to stretch out. The quad-slide floorplan, built on a Freightliner XC raised rail chassis, comes standard with a long list of most-desired features plus some tempting options to help you customize the coach for your own personal comfort and convenience.
Billed as a 2012 1/2 model year design, the XTE is powered by a Cummins ISB-XT, 360 HP diesel engine with 800 lb.-ft. of torque mated to an Allison six-speed MH-300 automatic transmission. Aluminum wheels wear 22.5" motorhome-specific radial tires. Full air brakes bring everything to a stop while the air suspension delivers a silky-smooth ride. One-touch fully automatic leveling jacks, 10,000 lb. trailer hitch and full-width stainless stone guard is all standard.
As you stroll around the outside, notice the sculpted front and rear fiberglass caps, electric patio and door awnings, slide-out topper awnings, exterior shower and voluminous full basement pass-through storage. Side-hinged, gas piston-equipped exterior doors lessen your chances of getting whacked in the head while loading or unloading. The XTE wears Sikkens™ full body paint in a distinctive, eye-catching design on its gel-coated fiberglass sidewalls.
Step into the cockpit and you’ll notice that electric windshield and manual side day/night privacy shades control light and heat entering through the tinted, one-piece windshield and the side windows while parked. The six-way power UltraLeather driver and passenger seats recline for ultimate comfort and include a power footrest on the passenger seat. Convenience features include drink holders, map lights, premium AM/FM/CD stereo with touch screen display, electronically-controlled dash air and dash fans. The driver will appreciate the padded steering wheel, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, chrome power mirrors with heat, electronic cruise control and three-camera backup monitor system. Plus who can resist that big rig air horn?
A 23 cu. ft. stainless steel residential refrigerator with in-door ice and water dispenser is standard in the XTE kitchen; a 12 cu. ft. four-door gas/electric RV fridge with icemaker is optional. A Whirlpool™ 1.5 cu. ft. Space Saver microwave/convection oven sits above the three-burner cooktop. Counter space is copious with a handy pullout between the fridge and cooktop. A pantry to the right of the fridge adds even more storage to the many cabinets and drawers in this coach kitchen. The double sink offers a single-lever faucet with pull-out sprayer; a power vent pulls cooking odors out of the kitchen fast.Across from the kitchen is the standard cantilever buffet dinette with two chairs (or the optional Dream Dinette booth) and the UltraLeather J-lounge that extends for plenty of seating to enjoy the 40" high definition LCD TV over the fireplace.
Exiting the kitchen, take a peak at the full-height shower with skylight on your left. Opposite is the toilet room that also houses the sink, vanity with medicine cabinet and foot-flush porcelain toilet, plus a power vent. This handy arrangement lets one camper shower without tying up the entire bathroom—a nice feature for couples or a family with small children. Beyond the bathroom lies the oh-so-inviting king bed, surrounded by ample wardrobe space, linen closet prepped for an optional stackable washer and dryer and a large chest of drawers. A 32" high definition LCD TV is mounted above the chest of drawers for easy viewing from the bed.
A 32" high definition LCD TV is also optional over the cockpit and in the exterior entertainment center if you don’t choose the Dream Dinette option. A surround sound home theater with DVD/CD player and AM/FM tuner is also standard, as is satellite dish prep (a Winegard™ auto-tracking satellite dish is optional).
The upscale XTE interior features LG Hi-Macs™ solid surface countertops in the kitchen and bath, tile kitchen backsplash, and solid wood raised panel cabinet doors, halogen lighting and porcelain tile flooring throughout. Further creature comforts include dual 13,500 BTU ducted central air conditioning, two 20,000 BTU ducted electronic ignition furnaces, 10-gallon gas/electric water heater with winterizing by-pass kit and whole-house water filtration. A 2000-watt inverter with 100-amp converter draws power from a quartet of six-volt house batteries. An Onan™ 8KW Quiet Diesel generator is the other option to keep all things electric humming along happily. Shore power comes via the 50-amp/120-volt service. A monitor panel shows you how all systems stand, including propane. Freshwater and grey and black water holding tanks are enclosed and heated. A built-in black tank flush system simplifies maintenance.
Other options include heat pumps on the air conditioners, Easy Slide exterior storage tray, automatic generator start and an energy management system. The 36MQ is one of two new additions to the Tuscany family of diesel pusher coaches. A model dubbed the 40EX is also in the works for 2012.
