KOA announces 'Come Kamp and Care with Us' weekend

Families looking to kick-off the camping season this spring can stay for free while helping a good cause at many Kampground of America (KOA) locations throughout the U.S. and Canada during the weekend of May 15th.

KOA's "Come Kamp and Care with Us" weekend gives campers a free night at one of the participating locations when they pay for the previous night.

KOA campgrounds will be collecting donations and holding fundraising events for the KOA Care Camps, which are 43 specialized summer camps that give children with cancer and their siblings a chance to experience the joys of camping while continuing their treatments.

This is the seventh year the company has held the weekend-long fundraiser. Last year, campers contributed nearly $250,000 for the charity.

The charity says that contributions are needed to fund the Care Camps, even though nearly all staff members volunteer their time and services for them. Expenses are still substantial and include meals for the campers and costs for items such as drugs, medical equipment, utilities, phones, insurance, gasoline, postage, linens and transportation.
