University of Alabama to increase RV parking

Fans of the Crimson Tide will have more room to park their RVs and tailgate next football season due to the construction of a new parking lot.

The plan comes after the University of Alabama's (UA) 2009 national championship win and current plans to expand seating at the stadium by adding an additional 9,000 seats to keep up with demand for tickets.

"It's almost vital to the 2010 game day," Gina Johnson, director of auxiliary services at UA and campus coordinator for game day told the Tuscaloosa News.

The new lot will have enough room for 180 RVs and 1,200 cars and school officials tell the Tuscaloosa News that they don't envision it ever being empty.

In addition to the space, the new lot will bring in a lot of revenue for UA. It's expected to bring in an additional $100,000 for the university each football season.

The Crimson Tide, known for its loyal fans, won its first National Championship at the Rose Bowl in 1926. The university's most recent national championship is the team's 13th.ADNFCR-2712-ID-19604242-ADNFCR
