Virginia state parks catering to women

Women who enjoy outdoor recreation may be interested in taking part in a Women's Wellness Weekend (WWW) at one of Virginia's state parks.

The Virginia state park system designed the weekends for women looking to reduce stress, learn about nature and enjoy the great outdoors.

The WWWs are offered at various parks throughout the state. The programs offered at each vary by location but include things like workshops about nature, activities like hiking, canoeing, geocaching and wine tasting as well as yoga and other exercise classes.

Participants arrive between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday and stay until noon on Sunday. Lodging is available in cabins at the parks or women may opt to commute to take part in the program each day.

Prices range from $172 to $290, depending on the size and number of people sharing a cabin. The commuter package is $149 per weekend. All meals are also included in the price.

The next Women's Wellness Weekend is scheduled for April 23 through April 25 at Fairy Stone State Park in Stuart, Virginia. Reservations are required.ADNFCR-2712-ID-19682814-ADNFCR
