'Winnebago Man' scheduled for July release

The foul-mouthed outtakes from a 1988 Winnebago sales video made Jack Rebney infamous.

Before YouTube was launched, crewmembers copied VHS copies of the four-minute, tirade-filled video to give to friends. The videos eventually fell into the hands of videotape collectors who began copying and trading them and the "Winnebago Man" phenomenon was born.

In 2005, when YouTube was launched, Jack Rebney became one of the first online superstars, with an almost cult-like following.

This summer, a documentary about a young filmmaker's quest to track down the Winnebago Man will be released in theaters.

The movie, which was written, directed and produced by Ben Steinbauer, delivers a poignant look at one man's response to unintended internet celebrity, and ultimately a story of how a so-called 'humiliation' can become a beacon of light to many.

Winnebago man will be released on July 9, 2010 and the DVD will be available in stores for the holiday season.

It may make a great gift for RV enthusiasts, campers, or anyone who has seen the original Winnebago Man tirade online.ADNFCR-2712-ID-19715120-ADNFCR
