RV helped to 'sell' college football star

Boise State football player Kyle Wilson is headed to the National Football League (NFL), thanks in part to a grassroots marketing plan hatched by his family.

The New York Times reports that Wilson's older brothers, Vincent and Gerry, were discouraged that Kyle wasn't receiving a lot of attention in the professional recruiting process. So, they devised a plan that included a special RV decorated in Boise State's colors and emblazoned with three pictures of Kyle.

"We needed an extra push to show his body of work over four years, to get the word out there," Gerry Wilson told the newspaper. "We needed to show that Kyle Wilson and Boise State existed."

They drove the RV to games across the country and hosted tailgates for fans. The RV attracted the attention of the media and football fans alike.

Wilson, who plays cornerback, was recruited in the first round of the NFL draft by the New York Jets.

What's next for the RV remains to be seen. The Wilsons say they may sell it and buy another one or just bring it home for safe-keeping.
