North Carolina campground to be featured in horror movie
A picturesque campground in North Carolina recently served as the backdrop for a full-length horror movie.
The Sky Island Retreat and Campground is located in Old Fort, North Carolina. The more than 50 acre property features log home rentals as well as RV and tent sites. The facility also features breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Hickory Nut and Mount Mitchell.
But, last weekend, this nature-lover's haven was transformed for the filming of a movie about zombies.
According to The McDowell News, the movie is being produced by Sik and Twisted Films.
The story is about a someone who uses a Ouija board to contact the spirit of rock legend Jimi Hendrix, which leads to zombies roaming around and causing all kinds of frightening events.
Campground owner Jerry Wheeler told the newspaper that the movie will be called "Sky Island Blood Trail" or "Sky Island Death Trail."
The filming was done all in one night, which is virtually unheard of in the movie business.
In addition to main characters, the news source reports that local residents were encouraged to act as extras in the film.
The movie will be released on DVD and then producers said they will try to get it into theaters.
