Pennsylvania officials urge holiday shoppers to consider giving the gift of nature

Individuals looking for the perfect holiday gift for the outdoor enthusiasts in their lives may consider some suggestions from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

The agency is offering state park gift cards to help recipients experience Pennsylvania's award-winning state park system. The gift cards, which can be purchased online in any dollar amount, may be used for campsites, cabins and pavilions anywhere in the state park system.

Shoppers can also support the commonwealth's 117 state parks by purchasing a calendar featuring stunning photography that captures the wonders of Pennsylvania's state parks throughout the seasons. It can be ordered by calling 1-888-PAPARKS.

Another option is to make a purchase or a donation in the recipient's name in support of the Wild Resource Conservation Program. More information is available by visiting dcnr.state.pa.us/wrcp.

In addition to 117 state parks, Pennsylvania features 2.1 million acres of state forests and thousands of campsites, cabins, cottages and pavilions to help outdoor lovers get back to nature. Reservations are available 11 months in advance through the state's online system.
