New RV park may soon open in northwest Florida

Individuals who are ready to pull the covers off of their RVs and hit the open road in northwest Florida may soon have a new park to visit.

According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, plans for a new RV park on Okaloosa Island were proposed by Tripp Tolbert, a local hotelier and developer. Tolbert owns the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort, and he plans to request approval to create a 54-site RV park from Okaloosa County commissioners.

County commissioner Don Amunds told the news source that he does not object to what he has heard about the plan. However, he wants to know more before he gives Tolbert his stamp of approval.

The park is designed to span over more than six acres of land. Tolbert wants the campground to contain high-end luxuries and landscaping, along with creating a set of requirements for individuals who wish to purchase a spot. At the moment, he only plans on allowing three classes of motorhomes into his future park.

The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association reports that a family of four can save an average of 74 percent by vacationing in a motorhome.
