RV industry hopes lawmakers will extend tax deduction

As the RV industry finalizes plans for its annual "Advocacy Day" in Washington, D.C., industry leaders say they're hoping to encourage lawmakers to continue with last year's motorhome tax deduction.

"We will plan to focus our conversations on the renewal of the sales and excise tax deduction for motorhomes as well as including towable RVs and truck campers in the renewal of that tax benefit," said the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association's (RVIA) senior director of government affairs, Jay Landers. "We'll also be urging congressional members to join their colleagues in signing a proclamation designating June as RV Centennial Celebration Month."

RVIA's eighth annual Capitol Hill Advocacy Day will take place on February 10. It is a day-long event that provides members with an opportunity to visit U.S. senators, representatives and key legislative staff to discuss key industry issues.

Advocacy Day is usually held during the group's Committee Week in June, but since the industry plans to celebrate the industry's 100th anniversary during that week in Elkhart, Indiana this June, they moved the event up to coincide with the group's Board of Director's meeting in the nation's capitol.
